What words describe an angel? I thought about this today as I was contemplating what to draw…

Innocence
Charitable
Peace
Tenderness
Serving
Pure…

I then also thought of my brother, who I believe is my guardian angel… and then these quotes came to mind:

“When we pray for a great blessing, need or healing, Jesus Christ sends our righteous progenitors as ministering angels to deliver the blessing.” [Visions of Glory]

“Who would love you more, and desire to help you more, than your family and closest friends.” (Referenced to spiritual messengers) [The Message]

Putting the two together, I decided to sketch a pair of young siblings. My friends (who I miss so much) from back in California have the most BEAUTIFUL children! Children when they arrive down to this earth are in their purest form, so innocent to the woes of the world, free from temptation and completely reliant upon us. How poetic it is that we begin on this earth dependent upon others…we grow to be so independent (and mistakenly at times prideful – believing we don’t need anyone else) and then we pass on to the next life only to come back to this world to serve others. I personally believe, from the spiritual perspective and taking the righteous – angelic characteristics of children, it would do us good to adopt and preserve what we once had when we entered this earth… I think we’d find more happiness and peace that way 🙂

About the Artist

I’m an artist, author, and poet. My work is often shaped by lived experiences and by paying close attention to the world around me… nature, and the people who have helped shape my life.

I usually paint first, and the words come later. Painting has been the safest way I’ve found to be honest about things that are hard to say out loud, and over time I’ve noticed other people finding their own stories in the work too.

My paintings are meant to comfort, to feel like a presence rather than a statement, and to give space for each person to find their own meaning. The connection that happens there matters most to me.
