Leonardo da’Vinci Sketch

This practice sketch was very soothing and therapeutic for me to create. She’s so pretty, I can only imagine what Leonardo da’Vinci must have thought of her. He must have felt something for her to take such great care of every detail in this sketch. Since I can’t find a name for her, I gave her the name of Lisa. I know it’s the same / similar to ‘Mona Lisa’, but that’s the name that came to me when I looked at her for awhile. They look similar, except this woman is more fancy. Regardless, I like the name so that’s what she’ll be called in my version of da’Vinci’s Head of a Woman.

About the Artist

I’m an artist, author, and poet. My work is often shaped by lived experiences and by paying close attention to the world around me… nature, and the people who have helped shape my life.

I usually paint first, and the words come later. Painting has been the safest way I’ve found to be honest about things that are hard to say out loud, and over time I’ve noticed other people finding their own stories in the work too.

My paintings are meant to comfort, to feel like a presence rather than a statement, and to give space for each person to find their own meaning. The connection that happens there matters most to me.
