Kid’s are awesome. They are far more easy to please than we give them credit for. What pure and innocent hearts they have. Have you ever been given a flower they picked, just for you, when they are walking home from the bus stop? Or how about the BEAUTIFUL rock they searched and searched for and were so excited to show you?

I believe we adults overthink the gift giving. We can learn so much from these young minds and big hearts… and even from our loving pets… much like an amusing cat, kids too always love a good box that has endless possibilities of being a castle fort, spaceship, or secret hideout. Much like an adorable puppy dog, they just love to be loved with time and attention! Time – the memories, are what last for a lifetime – not the expensive toy from the store.

So why do we all too often stress over what gift to give them over the holidays? Why do we too often over-gift? Here are a few ideas on how to keep it simple, courtesy of Little One 🙂

About the Artist

I’m an artist, author, and poet. My work is often shaped by lived experiences and by paying close attention to the world around me… nature, and the people who have helped shape my life.

I usually paint first, and the words come later. Painting has been the safest way I’ve found to be honest about things that are hard to say out loud, and over time I’ve noticed other people finding their own stories in the work too.

My paintings are meant to comfort, to feel like a presence rather than a statement, and to give space for each person to find their own meaning. The connection that happens there matters most to me.
