My nephew is serving a 2 year service mission for our Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) in Bahia Blanca Argentina. I titled this pastel sketch ‘All That I Have’ because the area where he is serving is a really poor area. Not just he has said, but many times from missionaries serving in their various missions in poorer areas of the world, you hear them say that the families and people they visit often give them ‘all that they have’ for dinner. It is so touching to me to hear these stories told, of the Christ-like love of those who have so little, are so willing to give so much of what they have. ♥
About the Artist
I’m an artist, author, and poet. My work is often shaped by lived experiences and by paying close attention to the world around me… nature, and the people who have helped shape my life.
I usually paint first, and the words come later. Painting has been the safest way I’ve found to be honest about things that are hard to say out loud, and over time I’ve noticed other people finding their own stories in the work too.
My paintings are meant to comfort, to feel like a presence rather than a statement, and to give space for each person to find their own meaning. The connection that happens there matters most to me.
