Sketch A Day Drawing Challenge: Day 146 – Elizabeth

This is my sister Elizabeth. She was my Mom & Dad’s second pregnancy, and sadly passed away at about 12 weeks along. I imagine her being very kind and soft-spoken. A very gentle and sensitive spirit. I wonder how many times in my life she has helped me as one of my angels, inspired my thoughts and helped guide me along my path in life. I think she’d be creative like me, sensitive like my sister Maren, and ambitious like my other sister Amy. 🙂 She’d have my Mom’s good heart and my Dad’s integrity. I can’t wait to meet her someday, though I know she’s with me all the time! ♥ 🙂

About the Artist

I’m an artist, author, and poet. My work is often shaped by lived experiences and by paying close attention to the world around me… nature, and the people who have helped shape my life.

I usually paint first, and the words come later. Painting has been the safest way I’ve found to be honest about things that are hard to say out loud, and over time I’ve noticed other people finding their own stories in the work too.

My paintings are meant to comfort, to feel like a presence rather than a statement, and to give space for each person to find their own meaning. The connection that happens there matters most to me.
