In addition to portrait painting and illustration art, I take on commission work for those who have lost a beloved pet or desire to have a portrait done of one they love who hasn’t necessarily passed away. I have always been an animal lover, I know what it means to have “furbabies” when you don’t have or are unable to have ‘human babies’ 😉 . The desire to love and to nurture and take care of, is innate in all of us. To have a little one who needs you and is always happy to see you is a treasured feeling. That is one reason why it’s heart-breaking to have that little one pass away and leave you with an empty room full of memories. This is one reason why I offer to create a pet portrait for those who have aching hearts, and wish to have a memory to treasure forever. Here is my recent collection of pet portraits I have done for others, and for myself:
About the Artist
I’m an artist, author, and poet. My work is often shaped by lived experiences and by paying close attention to the world around me… nature, and the people who have helped shape my life.
I usually paint first, and the words come later. Painting has been the safest way I’ve found to be honest about things that are hard to say out loud, and over time I’ve noticed other people finding their own stories in the work too.
My paintings are meant to comfort, to feel like a presence rather than a statement, and to give space for each person to find their own meaning. The connection that happens there matters most to me.
