Last week, my sweet – adorable – tiny 7year old niece Clara walked up to me as Clark and I arrived at her house. She promptly walked out to greet us and somberly said, “Becky, I have really sad news…” My heart sunk, not knowing what exactly she was referring to. She continued after I asked her what the sad news was about, and she said, “Coco died.” She had a really sad face, and only moments later she looked up to me with wet eyes and said, “Becky, will you paint her for me?” My heart was overcome, to have her so quickly ask me for that visual comfort of knowing where her precious pet is, safely returned in the hands of her creator. ♥

I firmly believe, that our Heavenly Father loves and adores ALL of His creations, both large and small, with equal affection. Each living creation of His, has a special-unique spirit. We’ve all been tasked with a special mission, and I’m confident He is overjoyed to receive home, each of those precious spirits. 🙂

About the Artist

I’m an artist, author, and poet. My work is often shaped by lived experiences and by paying close attention to the world around me… nature, and the people who have helped shape my life.

I usually paint first, and the words come later. Painting has been the safest way I’ve found to be honest about things that are hard to say out loud, and over time I’ve noticed other people finding their own stories in the work too.

My paintings are meant to comfort, to feel like a presence rather than a statement, and to give space for each person to find their own meaning. The connection that happens there matters most to me.
